“A RARE EXAMPLE OF THIS OGDON SMITH CASTING REEL, REEL WAS SOLD BY OGDON SMITHS AS THE SPINAX REEL. FITTED WITH A SILENT DRAG WITH BRAKE LEAVER AND RIM TENSIONER, SPOOL HAS A PILLARED CORE. THE FRAME IS AS MADE FACTORY CUT QUARTER RIM FOR SPOOL RIM BRAKING. REEL HAS A LATER FITTED COUNTER BALENCE IN PLACE OF ONE HANDLE AND MAY HAVE BEEN SET UP FOR FLY FISHING (SLIGHT RUB MARKS TO THE UNDERSIDE WHERE THE COUNTER BALENCE HAS BEEN SCREWED THROUGH. THER ARE A FEW VERY LIGHT BRUISES ON THE SPOOL RIM BUT VERY MINOR COSMETIC, NO CRACKS (JUST SCRATCHES), COMPONENTS ARE STAMPED WITH A 7, THE REEL WOULD HAVE BEEN BUILT FOR OGDON SMITH BY EITHER DINGLLEY OR WALKER BAMPTON OR A COMBINATION OF BOTH (DINGLY WORKED FOR AND DID WORK FOR WALKER BAMPTION), THE REE HAS A VERY GOOD ORIGINAL COLOUR AND IS FITTED WITH A FULL LENGTH BRASS BRIDGE FOOT. OVERALL A RARE REEL FOR THE COLLECTION. ALL AS PER PHOTOS”
