“A NICE LITTLE PILLARED CORE TROUT FLY REEL, STAMPED TO THE REVERSE OGDON SMITH"S HYDE PARK CORNER. IBELIEVE THEY WERE AT THIS ADDRESS ONLY BRIEFLY I THINK AROUND 1907 TO 1917. ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO DINGLEY STAMP INSIDE THE REEL IT CERTAINLY LOOKS TO BE FROM HIS FACTORY. REEL IS IN GOOD CONDITION, THE FOOT HAS SOME MISSHAPING. ALSO AS IS OFTEN THE CASE WITH UNIQUA PATTERN REELS THERE IS A LITTLE PLAY WITH THE SPOOL ON THE SPINDLE ALTHOUGH THE REEL WINDS NICELY WITH CRISP RIGHT HAND WIND CHECK. THE REEL RETAINS A GOOD LEAD COLOUR FINISH WITH A FEW MINOR LINE POLISH MARKS BY ONE PILLAR BUT VERY FAINT AND MINOR. OVERALL A NICE REEL TO FISH OR COLLECT. ALL AS PER PHOTOS”
