“A SCARCE FOSTER"S RETAILED EXCELSIS BRASS AND ALLOY THREADLINE CASTING REEL, ALTHOUGH UNNAMED THIS REEL WAS RETAILED BY FOSTER"S AS THE EXCELSIS IN THE 1930"S, THEY WERE ALSO SOLD BY OTHER RETAILERS SUCH AS ALBERT SMITH AMONGST OTHERS. SPOOL IS LIGHTLY STAMPED MODERN. THESE REELS WERE PAINTED WITH BLACK CELLULOID PAINT FINISH AND AS IS THE NORM THERE IS QUITE A BIT OF PAINT LOSS TO THE FINISH, MAIN BODY IS OF BRASS WITH ALLOY ROTOR CUP AND SPOOL, ALL WORKS AS IT SHOULD. A NICE RARE MODEL TO FISH OR COLLECT. ALL AS PER PHOTOS.”
